Set Individual Title and Button Text

You can set a title and button text that differ from the common settings, individually for each app block or app embed. (Light plan or above)

You can set a title and button text that differ from the common settings, individually for each app block or app embed.

You can now override the table of contents title and the "show," "hide," and "show all" button text individually, for each app block or app embed you've added in the theme editor.

This feature is available on the Light plan or above. On the Free plan, the settings are visible but have no effect.

App blocks and app embeds for displaying a table of contents on products, pages, and collections are available on the Regular plan or above.

In the "Text" section of an app block (or app embed), turning on "Override the app settings for this block" lets you enter a title and the three button labels specific to that item. If left off, the app's common settings continue to be used, as before.

  • You want to change the table of contents title on just one product page

  • You want to hide the table of contents title on a specific page (by leaving the title field blank)

  • You want to vary the show/hide button text depending on the page content, per app block

  1. In the Shopify admin, go to "Online Store" > "Themes"

  2. Open the theme editor

  3. Select the RuffRuff Table of Contents app block (or app embed)

  4. In the "Text" section, turn on "Override the app settings for this block"

  5. Enter the title and the show, hide, and show all button text

  6. Save

  • This feature applies to the Light plan or above. It has no effect on the Free plan

  • Displaying a table of contents on products, pages, and collections requires the Regular plan or above

  • Leaving the title blank hides the title on that app block only

  • Leaving a button label blank uses the text from the common settings

  • The "show all" button appears only when the initial display line setting leaves some headings hidden

  • If you want to translate this text into other languages, see the article "Translate Text per App Block or App Embed"
